We hear a lot about Confidence, but rarely are we given the tools to attain self-confidence. I was able to take my experiences and utilize them to gain confidence and success through a paradigm shift in my thinking.
One way to get into the power seat of your life is to recognize that you have CHOICES. These choices will change the trajectory of your life.
Regardless of your past, it occurred. If you experienced trauma, it's likely best to seek professional help for the tools needed to move forward.
Like all of us, we have had unpleasant events that have stayed with us throughout our lives and have undoubtedly SHAPED who we have become. The crucial piece here is that the way we choose to respond to those events is truly what defines us. Again, the choices we make with regards to those events will determine who we are and where we will go. Feelings of guilt, resentment, remorse, regret, and the what-ifs have absolutely no purpose, other than to weigh you down emotionally and mentally. They do not serve you. So if you can be cognizant of how you are responding (what you tell yourself on a daily basis about your body, your worth, your capabilities etc) you can REDEFINE who you are at any given moment in time and move towards your goals, instead of procrastinating or pushing them aside altogether. That is the mindset, girlfriends!
Your perception is reality, so you have to change your way of thinking and approaching those experiences.
- Journal our feelings and write down what you think other people think of you. Is that who you think you are?
- Write down your admirable qualities and characteristics
- What makes you different from your siblings/friends in terms of your personality?
- Yoga/Meditation - these allow you to quiet your mind and connect to your feelings, thoughts, and your body
- Focus on your relationship with YOU:
When you have a solid inner relationship with yourself, you are golden. When you inherently acknowledge your worth and value in this world, you have zero interest in what other people think of you; it just doesn’t matter. Who gives a shit what someone else thinks of you? You don’t need anyone to convince you of your unique gifts as a human. That's' why confidence is an inside job. When it's built on this foundation, nothing can tear it down. Sure, there are times you may question the universe and life in general, but when it comes down to it, you are at the core of your success and who you are. If you determine you have work to do as a person, shit or get off the pot! Make it happen, because no one else is going to do the work for you. And you will essentially spend the rest of your life seeking validation from others. (that’s a state of constant anxiety, by the way)
Life is going to carry on with or without you. Get busy living, and do what makes you passionate!!
